Nothing says “sporting event” than Buffalo wings.  Americans celebrate many sporting events with spicy Buffalo wings.

Sauce:
20 chicken wings
2 cups frying oil
1 stick butter
4 tablespoons brown sugar
5 tablespoons tomato sauce
Hot sauce, to taste
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon oregano
hot sauce
1 12-ounce bottle beer

Clean chicken wings.  Either fry in hot oil (350 degrees) for 10 - 15 minutes or bake on a greased baking sheet at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  Once cooked, drain on paper towels and set aside.  Keep chicken wings warm.
For sauce:  Melt butter and brown sugar together over medium heat in a small saucepan on the stovetop.  Add tomato sauce and hot sauce into mixture.  Add remaining spices and, if necessary, a dash of beer to loosen mixture.  Toss sauce over chicken wings.  Serve with blue cheese dressing, carrots and celery sticks.

Patriot History

Where was the first Buffalo wing created?  Arguably the spicy appetizer was created at the Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York in 1964.  Bar owner Teressa Bellissimo was faced with feeding her hungry children and deep fried chicken wings, tossed them in a spicy chili sauce and served them with a blue cheese sauce to cut the heat.
